Sparkling stars of moisture in the air
gems gleam from the snow on the street
four degrees below at 9am.
Starlings hunched together in long rows on the power lines
eerie sun glows behind dark clouds
the squirrels and rabbits have disappeared.
Thirty inches of snow in December
icicles hang like lace trim from the eaves
and reach down to the snowbanks.
Sidewalks are narrow paths tunneled between high banks
Hurry home – Get warm – Stay inside.
